
Nomination Process
Invitation to members of the public to nominate persons to serve on the 7th term Council of the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession.
Closing date for nominations: 04 November 2026. Nominations must be submitted in writing on the prescribed form with all supporting documents.
Invitation to Nominate
The Council hereby invites nominations for new members to serve on the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP).
The SACPVP is a statutory body established by section 2 of the Property Valuers Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 47 of 2000). SACPVP provides for the registration of professionals, candidates and specified categories in the property valuation profession; regulates the relationship between the profession and the Council for the Built Environment; and supports transformation of the profession.
In terms of section 4(3) of the Property Valuers Profession Act, 2000, the SACPVP invites nominations from members of the public for its seventh term of office.
Requirements
Council members of the SACPVP must have demonstrable leadership qualities and be committed to the development and transformation of the built environment professions. They must possess knowledge and/or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Property or real estate (valuation)
- Economics
- Statistics
- Finance
- Accounting
- Human resources
- Law
- Education and training
- Regulatory environment
- Safety and health of the public
Due consideration will be given to race, gender, disability and geographic location in the composition of the Council. Preference will be given to persons with legal, finance, corporate governance or human resource experience to contribute to the strategic direction of the SACPVP in the interest of the built environment and the public.
Disqualification
The following persons are not eligible for appointment to the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession in terms of section 6 of the Property Valuers Profession Act:
- Is not a South African citizen and ordinarily resident in the Republic
- Is an unrehabilitated insolvent
- Has been convicted of an offence in the Republic (other than an offence committed prior to 27 April 1994 associated with political objectives) and was sentenced to imprisonment without an option of a fine, or, in the case of fraud, to a fine or imprisonment or both
- Has been convicted of an offence in a foreign country and was sentenced to imprisonment without an option of a fine, or, in the case of fraud, to a fine or imprisonment or both (subject to subsection (3) of section 6)
- Has, as a result of improper conduct, been removed from an office of trust
- Has, in terms of the Property Valuers Profession Act, been found guilty by the Council of improper conduct
Term of Office
The term of office of members will be four (4) years from the date of appointment by the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure and approval of Cabinet. The Council meets at least four times per annum and appointed members may be required to serve on sub-committees of the Council.
Council members may be reappointed for one consecutive term. Candidates will be subjected to a security screening process.
Nomination Particulars
Nominations should be made on the Nomination Form provided on this website. Failure to comply with the requirements may result in disqualification of the nomination.
Nominations must be in writing, completed in the prescribed form, and contain the following:
- Full name, address and contact details of the nominating person or organisation
- Full name, identity number and contact details of the nominee
- Signed acceptance of the nomination by the nominee
- Declaration by the nominee that he or she is qualified to serve on the SACPVP in terms of section 6 of the Property Valuers Profession Act
- A motivation (one page only) for appointment of the nominee to the SACPVP
- A curriculum vitae of the nominee (not more than two pages), including qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills, board memberships, and at least two referees
- Certified copy of the nominee's South African ID document
- Certified copies of the nominee's qualifications
