Legislative Mandate
SACPVP derives its authority from the Property Valuers Profession Act, 2000, which mandates the Council to:
- Provide for the registration of property valuers and candidate valuers
- Regulate the valuation profession through a formal register and Codes of Conduct
- Protect the public in their dealings with registered persons
- Maintain and enhance the integrity, status, and standards of the property valuation profession
- Accredit valuation education programmes offered by higher education institutions
- Recognise and work with voluntary associations within the profession

Role of SACPVP as a Regulatory Body
As a recognised regulator, SACPVP is responsible for:
Setting standards for education, training, and professional competence
Registering Professional Valuers, Professional Associated Valuers, and Candidate Valuers
Maintaining an up-to-date register of all registered persons
Enforcing a Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
Investigating complaints of improper conduct and applying disciplinary measures where required
Protecting the public interest and promoting trust in valuation outcomes
