Registration categories
Under Section 19 of the PVP Act, the following registration categories apply:
- Professional Valuer
- Professional Associated Valuer
- Candidate Valuer
- Candidate Single Residential Property Assessor
- Single Residential Property Assessor
These categories determine qualification requirements and scope of professional practice.
Professional Valuer (Pr Val)
To register as a Professional Valuer with SACPVP, you must submit:
- Completed application form stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths (Item 9 & 10)
- Certified copy of a 4-year accredited Real Estate qualification with transcript
- Supervisory letter confirming valuations were completed under mentorship
- Practical Workschool Certificate
- Submission of a valuation report with completed Item 11.1 experience matrix
- Certified copy of ID
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Registration and annual fee (payable once Pr Val board exam is passed)
Candidate Valuers who have been registered with the Council for 2 years or more and hold a 4-year accredited qualification may qualify to write the Professional Valuer exam if their score is sufficient.
Professional Associated Valuer (Pr AVal)
The following documents are required:
- Completed application form stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths (Item 9 & 10)
- Certified copy of accredited Real Estate qualification with transcript
- Supervisory letter confirming mentorship
- Practical Workschool Certificate
- Submission of valuation report aligned with Item 11.1 experience matrix
- Certified copy of ID
- Certified copy of matric certificate
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Registration and annual fee (after passing Pr AVal board exam)
Registration as a Professional Associated Valuer may include restrictions depending on the application.
Candidate Valuer
To apply for Candidate Valuer registration with SACPVP, you must submit:
- Completed application form stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths (Item 9 & 10)
- Certified proof of enrolment in a Real Estate qualification
- Certified copy of qualification and transcript (if applicable)
- Supervisory letter
- Proof of payment for non-refundable application and registration fee
- Certified copy of ID

Single Residential Property Assessor (SRPA)
For Single Residential Property Assessor (SRPA) and Candidate Single Residential Property Assessor (CSRPA) registration, the Diploma in Real Estate offered by CPUT is relevant.

Board exams
Yes. Both Professional Valuer (Pr Val) and Professional Associated Valuer (Pr AVal) applicants must pass the relevant SACPVP board examination before registration and annual fees become payable.
Documents
Certified copies are required for:
- ID document
- Qualification and transcript
- Matric certificate (where applicable)
- Proof of enrolment (Candidate Valuer)
All certifications must be valid and properly stamped.
Fees & charges
Fees are published under the Property Valuers Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 47 of 2000), section 12(1), for the 2026/2027 financial year (1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027).

Unless stated otherwise, fees are VAT inclusive. Annual and application fees are non-refundable (neither as a whole nor in part).
Annual fees (2026/2027) are VAT inclusive and non-refundable:
Professional Valuers: R5 180
Professional Associated Valuer and SRPA: R4 780
Candidate Valuer and CSRPA registered more than 5 years: R4 460
Candidate Valuer and CSRPA registered less than 5 years: R1 670
All Octogenarians: R1 055
International Professionals: R5 180
International Candidates: R1 670
Registration will be suspended if no payment is received by 31 December 2026 and cancelled if no payment is received by 31 March 2027.
A newly registered candidate valuer is exempt from the annual fee for the first year of registration; only the application fee and registration fee apply until approved.
Application fees (2026/2027) are VAT inclusive, non-refundable, and payable when submitting a first-time application (proof of payment must be attached):
All registration categories (Pr Val, Pr AVal, Ca Val, SRPA, CSRPA): R1 785
All international new applications: R2 950
Additional fee for international/foreign categories: R1 190
New specified category (e.g. PME, MPA) when opened: R7 500
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) ito s12(1)(i) of the PVP Act: R30 000
Registration fees (2026/2027) are VAT inclusive and apply when progressing from one registration category to another (e.g. after passing the professional examination):
Professional Valuer: R3 430 (50% non-refundable)
Professional Associated Valuer: R3 300 (50% non-refundable)
Candidate Valuer: R1 580 (50% non-refundable)
Candidate Single Residential Property Assessor (<5 years): R1 580 (50% non-refundable)
Single Residential Property Assessor and specified categories: R3 300 (50% non-refundable)
International Professional Valuer: R4 680 (50% non-refundable)
International Professional Associated Valuer: R4 550 (50% non-refundable)
International Candidate Valuer: R2 850 (50% non-refundable)
Recognised Prior Learning (RPL): R7 000 (Amount non-refundable)
Examination and supplementary examination fees (2026/2027):
Professional Valuer: R4 200
Professional Associated Valuer and SRPA: R3 885
Examination and supplementary examination fees are VAT inclusive; 50% refundable until 14 days before the examination.
The Administration Fee (Re-Registration) for 2026/2027 is R1 280.
This fee applies when a registrant needs to re-register with SACPVP.
The duplicate hard copy certificate fee for 2026/2027 is R350.
SACPVP issues e-Certificates subject to certain conditions; hard copies are available on request at this fee.
The Letter of Good Standing fee is R300 (2026/2027).
This letter is often required for professional verification or compliance purposes.
The Pre-Exam Workshop fee for 2026/2027 is R1 900.
This workshop assists candidates in preparing for examinations.
The Remarking of Script fee for 2026/2027 is R2 500.
This fee applies when a candidate requests a formal remark of an examination script.
The Advertising on SACPVP Website fee for 2026/2027 is R500.
This applies to advertisements placed on the official SACPVP website.
Practical Workschool fees (2026/2027): 4-5 day attendance R8 900; 3 days (SRPA) R4 750; 1 day R2 100; non-registered persons R9 700.
The appeal fee in terms of section 25(1) of the Property Valuers Profession Act for 2026/2027 is R9 500.
